The Truth-Sanity Chart

Chart derived from a sketch last Friday at a local coffee house while waiting for a client. This is what happens when I get 15 minutes alone with my thoughts. After a good response upon sharing it with a couple friends while at the coffee house and then on Facebook, I refined it and am posting it to DA.

How does anyone become so far gone they don’t even realize what they’re doing or saying is THAT fucked up? We often greet such individual behavior with incredulity, but let’s not pretend this is rare occurrence. It is to be witnessed everywhere - in our personal lives, in the workplace, in the 24/7 news cycle, and running rampant on the internet. You can’t believe some of these imbeciles are real people able to dress themselves in the morning.

The truth is we all stand risk of becoming –that- person. Have you noticed that the further we get away from any semblance of reality and truth, it seems the further fucked up we become? Let’s face it - it’s a ridiculously easy road to chase insanity. It’s a much greater challenge to possess the care and consideration to think about what we’re actually doing in any sort of framework beyond ourselves. We’d rather deal with our assumptions and stereotypes, regardless how correct or errant they are, because we feel entitled to make those judgments. It starts with one little thing, then another, and eventually our actions have strayed so far that we don’t even view what we do as a choice anymore.

This is why when you’d conclude no person would dare dig further in an already inescapable deep hole, they continue to tunnel. You’d think they would know how bad it’s eventually going to be for them, right? Wrong wrong WRONG. They’re oblivious to getting caught and loss any sense accountability a long time ago. This dumbfuckery becomes so ingrained within their psyche they cannot control themselves if they tried. We are our own worst enemy and it serves as a pathetic reminder how self-centered and foolish we can truly be.

The good news is that the misery and unhappiness associated with this sociopathy and psychosis isn’t your burden to bear or fear, otherwise we risk a similar fate. While you always must do what is necessary protect yourself and the people in your life, affecting change in dolts like this isn’t our responsibility. If anyone is stupid enough to exert energy digging their own grave deeper, it’s their decision to live with. Whether the other shoe drops two weeks, two years, or two decades from now – time alters nothing. They’ll continue to willfully travel down that steep slope until they’re SHOCKED that they need to soak themselves in a giant vat of SPF40.
