Central Texas, 2006

Commentary: My 10-day trip through Texas last year covered over 1500 miles of road and flew by as if it was only a few hours. It was great seeing old friends and traveling between former stomping grounds and new places.

I was hoping for some great cloud formations similar akin to the Texas photos you see in some of `foureyes gallery. Ten days of travel - barely one cloud. I lived in Texas for six years and don't recall many spans of time where that actually happened. But despite my disappointment with the weather, it was a blast and I enjoyed seeing so many things on the road that brough back memories.

This is not one of the more eye-catching photos from the trip, but for some reason it's become one of my most sentimental. There's something romantic about the sights of road travel I'm not sure I'm ever going to shake.

Can I tell you that I used to love seeing these trucks in the fields when I would travel with my parents. It seems like seeing these sights out the back window would give me some sense of how close we were to our destination. These scenes kept me sane during what seemed like eternal travel at times. These sights, the starburst at The Holiday Inn, and Shoney's Big Boy!

Thanks for stirring up the memories buddy. They were good ones. ;)

And damn ... I don't think anyone can catch the clouds like `foureyes. :giggle:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
:sigh: Home sweet, home... :sniff:

Never pretend to a love which you do not actually feel, for love is not ours to command - Alan Watts
I think the horizon is a bit slanted, but the amount of negative space because the lack of clouds makes this picture more rural! I love the monotones! Keep up the fantastic work Sterl! :D
