Rabun County, Georgia 2005

Commentary: Last summer, `hyper-psycho and I took a trip waterfall hopping through northeast Georgia. Mapquest apparently has issues providing directions among rural confines and we became semi-lost in the middle of nowhere trying to find the waterfall near Dick's Creek at the end of the day.

We never actually made it to the waterfall. It had been raining, and the mud and rain-etched ditches were so severe that my 4-cylinder Saturn (a.k.a. the gold pimpmobile) couldn't get past this point. Disappointed, we hopped out of the car, and walked towards where we could hear running water. Near the first break of trees, we stumbled upon this dilapidated rural mill. At the time I photographed this, Zlatko and I thought the angle of the sunlight was really going to blowout the details of this scene. While digitally developing my photography a few days later, I was pleasantly surprised at the decent exposure - in fact, this became my personal favorite shot of the entire trip.

My mother likes scenes like this and I gave this photo to her for a recent birthday. One thing I've always appreciated about photography and most creative mediums - no matter what you intend to seek out, you always discover exactly what you're not looking for - from secluded rural mills to hidden street scenes to old angry farmers who want you to GET OFF THEIR LAWWWWWWWWWN. I love it.

That's gorgeous, I love it :) The colors and the motion are lovely :) Waterfall hopping sounds like fun, I should try it out my way some time. I like the last part of the description about the farmers xD

beautiful motion and light. my friends and i also go waterfall hunting, and occasionally get pretty lost as well. but sometimes the things you find by accident are just as much fun. this is a lovely example.

i might join your century, but only as a doubtful guest.

I couldn't begin to fathom how you took this picture. Incredible. The lush colours and smooth stream are outstanding.

Would've made an interesting canvas print. It sort of looks like a painting, you know. :)

The water turned incredibly soft :)
And the rust and red roof point out the small watermill.....

How about angry hunters that confuse you with preys XD.....?
