near Ormondsville, North Carolina 2007

Commentary: If this scene looks familiar to my older viewers, it should. Four years ago, "5 Cents" was the location of my first attempt using a DSLR. I didn't really know how to use manual, so I shot in automatic mode; also my digital processing technique was vastly different than it is now.

Occasionally when I find myself in a location I had previously visited a few years earlier, I'll reshoot just to see if things came out any differently or if I've gained a new take on things. In this case, the comparison between old and new were subtle enough to make a difference - the deeper colors, increase in detail, and slight change in cropping to place more emphasis on the decay. Of course...it could just have underwent four more years of weathering. ;)

It did seem quite recognisable. :) I like how some of the wood has deteriorated to the extent that it looks ready to fall off.

Can't say I remember the old version but I very much like the weathered and used feel of it. Its very well exposed as well. Would go great in a downstairs bar :)

I love old signs, I'm a huge fan of your Pepsi sign photos ;)

I think I prefer this one to the others, I think it is the stronger colors and perhaps increased weathering ;)

You just know I like this kind of image. I always loved the original so I am of course loving this one. It's awesome that you actually stopped to re-shoot.
sorry, i don´t know the old version - but i really like this one. the old wood and the colors give the image something very unique.
